Temporary Van Insurance

Temp Van Cover Under 21

With the advent of the temporary van insurance you are able to insure yourself to drive a van or insure another person to drive your van. You can get cover for just a day or anywhere up to 28 consecutive days of coverage.

The benefits of being able to insure yourself to drive a vehicle on a temporary basis are that you can pay for the cover as and when you need it. As this is a separate type of policy your no claims on your regular insurance will not be affected. Many people do not like to allow others to drive their van if they borrow it on their insurance. They are worried that if a friend, relative or co-worker has an accident or prang and they are under their insurance they will be adversely affected by loss of no claims and higher premiums in the future.

Under 21's temporary van insurance

Many drivers either intentionally or not do drive vans without the proper insurance. They may not realise that their own insurance does not cover them or the insurance of the person that they are borrowing or hiring the van is not covering them. Some drivers also choose to drive knowing full well that they are not legally insured. Without the proper insurance you could end up with a criminal conviction or end up losing the vehicle that you are driving, is it really worth the risk for the cost of a days worth of insurance.

There are however problems with getting temp van cover under 21 years of age, many short term insurers will not cover anyone under this age group. There are many reasons for this, one of them being the risk to the insurer allowing an under 21 year old to drive a van on such a short term policy. You can however opt for a pay as you go policy if you are under 21 which will cover you to drive a van for a minimum of one calendar month.
